Peggy Jean Evanoff, age 60, of Effingham, Illinois passed way at 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Siteman Cancer Center, Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23 at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Peter, Illinois with one-hour viewing prior to the service. Pastor Sam Hester will be officiating. Burial will be at Farina Cemetery in Farina, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Peter, Illinois. Memorials may go to the family of Peggy or donor’s choice.

Peggy was born on November 10, 1955 in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Earl Hassebrock and Clarabelle Merritt. She married Randy Kuhlman on June 21, 1975. Peggy was employed by Brown’s Produce in Farina, Illinois for several years. After her divorce she moved to Effingham, Illinois where she was employed at Ryan’s Restaurant for 15 years and where she met her husband, Bruce Evanoff. Peggy had a huge heart for loving people and animals. She was a very dedicated volunteer at the Voice of Animals Resale Shop in Effingham, Illinois.
Peggy is survived by her five sons, Christopher (wife Shari) Kuhlman of Farina, Illinois, Tim Kuhlman (wife Michelle) of Effingham, Illinois, Steve (wife Dawn) Kuhlman of Beecher City, Illinois, Pat (wife Brandy) Kuhlman of Shumway, Illinois and Derrick (wife Becky) Kuhlman of Shumway; Twelve siblings: Six sisters: Kaye Potter of Farina, Illinois, Terrieanne (husband Butch) Butts of Farina, Illinois, Clara Mae (husband Doug) Osborne of Alma, Illinois, Helen (husband Roger) Eckert of Alma, Illinois, Carol (husband John) Middleton of Farina, Illinois, and Michelle (husband Brian) Stilt of Greenville, Illinois; Six brothers: Dennis (wife Pat) Hassebrock of Farina, Illinois, Duane (wife Evelyn) Hassebrock of Kinmundy, Illinois, Bill (wife Barbara) Hassebrock of LaClede, Illinois, Rodney Hassebrock of Kinmundy, Illinois, Randy Hassebrock of Kinmundy, Illinois and Bobby (wife Heather) Hassebrock of Alma, Illinois. She was the proud grandmother of Dakota Kuhlman, D. J. Roberts, Samantha Roberts and Kathleen Roberts, Kasandra Henson, Kaleb Kuhlman and Kodie McGrew and great-grandmother to Kamarzhea McMillen, Kiauna McMillen, Akira McMillen (their father Lincoln McMillen), Kollen McGrew and Riley McGrew; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl August Hassebrock; mother, Clarabelle Merritt; husband, Bruce Evanoff; sister, Connie Quandt and nephew, Greg Hassebrock.
