Lois Prosser, 90, of Altamont died at 8:46pm Monday, April 25, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont with Rev. Willie Deuel officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry, Effingham County Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, or Blessings in a Backpack. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lois Evelyn (Gallagher) Prosser was born on Monday, July 27, 1925 in rural Fancher, Shelby County, Illinois to Ray M. and Gertrude (Middleton) Gallagher. She married Cecil L. Prosser on Monday, August 30, 1943 in Mode. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Altamont. She was a department manager at Martin’s IGA, Effingham for over 23 years. In addition to raising her family she enjoyed quilting, sewing, fishing and baking.

She is survived by her husband of over 72 years, Cecil of Altamont; sons, Charles Prosser and his wife Maria of Effingham and John Prosser and his wife Cyndi of Normal; daughters, Nancy Frailey and her husband Earl and Jeanne Petzing and her husband John all of Beecher City; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kermit Gallagher; sisters, Mildred Brown and Annabelle Tucker and 1 granddaughter, Angela Frailey.
