Robert Lee "Bob" Butler, 52, of Newton died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday, April 18 at the Potter's House Ministries in Newton with Pastor Ron Mulvey officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am to noon Monday. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery in Oblong. Memorial gifts may be made to the family.

Robert was born on October 12, 1963 in Aurora, Illinois the son of Jack L. Butler and Maxine Schavi. After finishing his education, Robert worked in auto body repair and painting. He was a faithful member of the Potter’s House Ministries in Newton where he was active in the Bible study and helped with the church bulletin. He enjoyed giving of his time and being helpful. He volunteered at the Master’s Hands in Newton and well as for ERBA. He was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed genealogy and spending time with his family.

Robert will be loved and remembered by his mom Mary Butler of Hidalgo, son Robert Duncan of Ohio, 3 grandchildren; brothers Richard (Carrie) Butler of Yale, Thomas (Stacy) Bailey of Elkhart, IN; Chuck Stephenson of Elkhart, IN, Michael Stephenson of Elkhart, IN and Larry Butler of CA; sisters, Sandra Tipsword of Aurora, Karen (Bob) Keller of Newton Leann Butler of Hidalgo; several nieces and nephews, aunt, uncles, and cousins.

His parents, brother Michael Butler and sisters Shelia Butler and Kathy Hilger preceded him in death.
