Carla was born on April 16, 1945 in Crittenden County, Kentucky, the daughter of Edward Lloyd and Loeta Allen(Meeks). She attended Rosiclare grade and high school, graduating in 1963. She then attended the St. Louis School of Laboratory Science where, after completing her coursework, she took her national boards and was certified as a Medical Technologist, a field she worked in until she retired in 2004. Carla met the love of her life, Stephen T. “Bubby” Hosick, when they attended kindergarten together. They were classmates through the 12th grade, even dating some while in high school. After graduating in 1963, Bubby and Carla dated for a few years and were married at the Rosiclare Church of Christ on December 18, 1965, both being 20 years old. They would be married a total of 46 years until his passing on May 3, 2012. This union produced a son, Stephen Seth Hosick, who was born in 1972 and daughter, Kate Alisbeth Hosick, born in 1982. Carla traveled with Bubby while he served in the United States Coast Guard from 1966 to 1970. They called Port Canaveral, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina home until Bubby's discharge from the USCG Reserves. In 1976, she and Bubby, along with her sister and brother-in-law, purchased Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare from her father-in-law. In 2008, they sold the business and headed out on the road in their RV, buying a mobile home in Del Rio, Texas in 2010 to be close to their favorite largemouth bass fishing hole, Lake Amistad on the Rio Grande. To just say Carla (and Bubby too) liked to fish is an understatement. She absolutely lived for bass fishing and she didn't care if she had to go alone or with Bubby; she was going fishing. As her kids and neighbors can attest, she could out fish any man who went up against her, whether it was in one of the many tournaments they fished or on the side of a farm pond. In February of 2006, while friends were visiting them in Del Rio from Illinois, she caught a 9lb largemouth (a personal record), which far surpassed fish her guests or even Bubby caught on the visit. The moment was captured in a photo. When the film was developed, Carla wrote a small note on the back of the duplicate pics and sent them to the two men who were by then back in Illinois. The note read, "There was an old woman who fished in a boat. She had nothing to do but sit back and gloat. 9lb bass" Carla was a lifelong member of first Rosiclare, and then Hardin County Church of Christ being baptized by Brother Bob Langston in 1959. She was a mentor to many young women who worked with her at Hardin County General Hospital. She also served as City Treasurer of Rosiclare in the 1980s.

Carla is survived by her son Seth Hosick of Del Rio, Texas; daughter Kate Hosick of Chicago, Illinois; and her mother-in-law Ernesteen Hosick of Harrisburg, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve “Bubby” and her two brothers, Larry and Steven Allen.
