Julia M. Magnus, 80, of Brownstown, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Memorials may be made to the Four Mile Christian Church Education Fund.

Julie Mae Magnus was born in Otego Township, rural Brownstown on Sunday, December 1, 1935 to Harland and Anna Marie (Kistler) Purcell. She married Willard W. Magnus on April 2, 1961, and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2004. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Four Mile Christian Church, rural Brownstown where she had played the piano for 63 years and had served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was an election judge for Otego Township for many years.

She is survived by; sons, Delbert Magnus and his wife Mary of St. Elmo, Phillip Magnus of Brownstown, and DeWayne Magnus of Brownstown; daughter, LeAnna White and her husband Steve of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Ina Rothe of Murphysboro; and 5 grandchildren, William and Hannah Magnus, Matthew, Andrew, and Anna White.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother-in-law, Carl Rothe.
