Ruth Ann Dhom, 73, of Newton died Friday, March 25, 2016 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 30 at 10am at Shiloh Christian Church, Willow Hill. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Memorials to Shiloh Christian Church. Crain Funeral Home in Newton is assisting.

Ruth Ann was born on March 16, 1943 in Robinson, Illinois the daughter of Frank and Garnet (Yount) York. On March 24, 1961, Ruth Ann married Raymond R. Dhom in Newton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2004. For thirty three years, Ruth Ann was an ICU nurse having started her career at Richland Memorial Hospital. She later worked at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital where she retired after twenty plus years of service. She was a lifelong member of the Shiloh Christian Church, Willow Hill, Illinois. Her children and grandchildren were the focus of Ruth Ann’s life. A caretaker at heart, she loved to host family gatherings, plan parties for classmates, and provide for her children. She enjoyed football, reading and watching Fox news. She also enjoyed driving a nice car, having her hair done, and taking time for a Diet Pepsi.

Ruth Ann will be loved and remembered by her children Robbin (Gary) Dhom McPheron of Olney, Reneé (Terry) Welker of Newton, Kelly (Kyna) Dhom of New Burgh, IN, Frank (RoxAnn) Dhom of Newton, and Rachel Dhom Klier of Illinois; grandchildren, Fred and Josh Wakefield, Sarah Welker Gibbons, Jorryn Schmitt, Caelin and RaeLee Dhom, Ryann and Reyse Klier; great grandchildren Jamison, Carlee, Emma, Tristan, and Chase Wakefield and Giddeon and Vayda Gibbons; siblings Frank York of Pittsfield, IL, Fred (Natalie) York of MaKanda, IL, Becky York Pedraza of Carterville, IL, and Rosie York of Newton and special puppies Lily and Mavis.

Her parents, husband Raymond, sisters Rita York Whitehurst, Ramona York Frichtl, and grandson Thaddeus Welker preceded her in death.
