Scott was born on October 3, 1962, in Carbondale, IL, the son of Charles Frederick and Reveta Arlene (Hosselton) Black Jr. He married Kathy L. Diel on September 6, 1986, and she survives. Scott received his Bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University. He was an educator at Charleston High School in the Charleston Community School District # 1.  Scott loved spending time in nature: hunting, fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. Scott was a loving husband, father, brother, and teacher. Although Scott’s life seems short to those who loved him, he will be forever remembered by the many people he has impacted. Scott will be fondly remembered for his positive attitude, contagious smile, high energy level, outgoing personality, and—most of all—for his keen wit and sense of humor.

Scott is survived by his wife, Kathy Black of Jewett; children, Clayson John Black and Chelsea Marie Black, both of Jewett; parents, Charles F. and Reveta A. Black of Carbondale; sister, Lori Black of Carbondale; brother, Chris (wife, Connie) Black of Hinsdale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
