Ronald A. White, 84, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 9:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 23 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, with Rev. David Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham, with military rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Ron to Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson, IL.

Ronald was born on April 8, 1931, in Effingham, IL, the son of Chester and Anna (Williams) White. He married Barbara Stortzum on April 8, 1956 in Effingham and she survives. Ron proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur, IL in 1987 after 32 years. He enjoyed the last several years as a crossing guard for Effingham. He loved traveling with his wife and family. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. More importantly, Ron had a deep love for his Lord and family and was a loyal friend.
Ron is survived by his wife he loved and adored for 59 years, Barbara of Effingham; children, Brenda Stewart of Effingham, Jeanette (Doug) Nihiser of Decatur, and Cynthia (Ron Ferguson) Bond of Decatur; grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Christopher, Heather, Joseph, Brandi, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Drew, Samantha, Adrian, Braydon, Isaiah, Ashaun, and Kai; great-great-grandchild, Hailey; sisters, Delores Lucas of Tolono and Una Tish of St. Elmo; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Nichole Marsh; 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
