Mary L. Baker of Effingham passed away the morning of her 85th birthday, Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to time of service Friday morning in the St. Clare Hall within St. Francis Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Mary was born March 9, 1931 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Henry and Theresa (Voltenburg) Hoelscher. She married Floyd F. Baker on July 29, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2010. Mary was a life-long member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis.

She is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Connie) Baker of Gardener, KS, John Baker of Farina, Timothy (Diane) Baker of Beecher City; five daughters, Susan (Robert) McMullen of Effingham, Judy Milanec of Tuscola, Ruth (Jay) Kersey of Effingham, Jane Scheer of Chico, CA and Nancy Baker of Bradley; sisters, Martha (Steve) Kite and Rita (Leo) Wiessing, both of Humbolt; sister-in-law, Anita Hoelscher of Teutopolis; twelve grandchildren; one step-grandchild; eleven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Patrick Baker and granddaughter, Jessica Epperson.
