Victor Lee “Lucky” Stevens, 67, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 9:30 AM – Sunday, February 28, 2016, at his home.

Funeral services celebrating Lucky’s life will be held at 10:30 AM – Friday, March 4 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Southeastern Illinois Hospice or to the Jasper County Cancer Fund.

Victor Lee, better known as “Lucky” was born on November 22, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Bessie May Stevens. He married Marsha M. Piercefield on August 26, 1967, in Newton, Illinois, and she survives. Lucky was a truck driver and was current trucking for Brothers Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri. He was an avid golfer and bowler.

Lucky was preceded in death by his mother and step father Bessie May and John Phillips; 3 children – Victor, Lisa and Rose Ann Stevens; sister Linda Phillips; brothers Johnny and Clifford Phillips; mother-in-law and father-in-law Lillie and Lawrence “Buck” Piercefield and a brother-in-law Joe Piercefield.
