Erma Mae Walker Plummer, 89, of Effingham, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 25 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, with the Rev. John Hollis officiating. Burial will be in Janesville Cemetery in Janesville. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Erma to Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1342, Effingham, IL 62401.

Erma Mae was born on November 14, 1926, in Lerna, IL, the daughter of Hugh and Emma (Barger) Foote. She married Lee W. Walker and from this union they had 2 children, Joyce and Jack. Then she married Delbert Plummer. Erma was a member of Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham. She was employed as a housekeeper for 20 years at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham. She loved to crochet afghans and also enjoyed listening to audio books. Erma especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Tommy) Hoeffliger of Effingham; son, Jack Walker of Watson and Kathy Phillips; step-daughter, Sandy Potter; brother, Gerald (Eunice) Foote of Mattoon; grandchildren, Michelle Bendikas, Josh Walker, Amy Lilly, and Breann (Shawn) Will; step-grandchildren, Tim, Cheryl, Pam, and Barbie; several great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and dear friends, Melba Gillespie and Melba Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers.
