Onorma Pearl Harris age 89 of Newton passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton, Illinois with Rev. Steve Willis officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 Thursday until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newton, Illinois.

Onorma was born on October 4, 1926 in North Muddy Township, Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Luther Salvanis and Leah May (Shamhart) Baker. Onorma married Gilbert Oren Harris on January 29, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1987. Onorma retired from United Technologies in Newton. In earlier years, she worked for Spencer’s Dry Cleaning, Ettelbrick Shoe Factory, and Newton High School. She was a member of the Newton Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and playing games especially with her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Onorma will be loved and remembered by her children Rose (Harry Dale) Douthit of Newton, Gene (Marlene) Harris of Newton, Stephen (Anita) Harris of Jamestown, TN, and Keith (Theresa) Harris of Newton; grandchildren, Tammy (Richard) Mercier, Harry Dale Douthit, Jr, Tara (Matt) Burke, Nicola (Bret) Hatfield, Troy (Deanna) Douthit, Delores (Brian) Wilson, Kevin (Dee Dee) Ochs, Jennifer (Marlin) Seider, Debbie (Jimmie) Goss, Karen (Bill) Weston, Derrick (Lisa) Harris, Melissa (John) Drum, Tina (William) Faught, Travis Harris, Shane Harris, Stanley Crouse; 33 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; siblings Lloyd Dale Baker, Portland, TN, Dora Mae Martin, Wheeler, Esther Elam Johnson, Medford, OR, and Charles Luther “Chuck” Baker, West Salam.
Her parents, husband Gilbert, two children Danny Ray Harris and Shirley Kay Paul ; and siblings Roy Ray Baker, Cleo Vernon Baker, and Inez Baker Finn preceded her in death.
