Marie was born on Tuesday, February 13, 1934 to the late Charles and Florence (Rhodes) Kane in St. Elmo, IL. Marie married Lewis Meier on Saturday, June 21, 1952 in California before Lewis was deployed to serve in the Korean War. After Lewis returned home, they started their lives together in rural Beecher City. Marie helped on the family dairy farm as well as working at the Altamont Garment Factory for a number of years before going to work for Lutheran Care Center for the next 31 years. Marie was a member of St. Paul's 'Blue Point' Lutheran Church as well as a member of the VFW Post #7676 Ladies Auxiliary.

During the course of their marriage, Marie and Lewis were blessed with three healthy children all of whom survive; Clarence Meier of Beecher City, IL Luann (Dale) Cassiday of Ashmore, IL, and Keith (Brenda) Meier of Beecher City, IL. She was the loving grandmother to Kimberly (Romeo) Youssef, Cory (Jeannie) Meier, Beth (Brian) Darby, Kristi (Charlie) Foerster, Tammy (Sid) Cassiday, Kandi (Ron) Cassiday, Nick (Aly) Meier, Dillon (Samantha) Meier, and Megan Meier. Marie was an equally loving great-grandmother of Jordan Madison, Sofia Youssef, Sarah Youssef, Alex Darby, Brooklynn Darby, Ethan Foerster, Chaz Acord, Blake Acord, William Meier and Shawn Paul. Marie is also survived by one sister, Charlene Logue of St. Elmo, IL.

Marie will be remembered for her wittiness. She never made you wonder what was on her mind because she shared it openly. Her passion for cooking and baking will forever be missed by all who had the pleasure of tasting it.

Marie is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, four sisters, and one brother.
