Kathryn L. Pendergast (76) of Effingham

Kathryn L. Pendergast, 76, of Effingham, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 7 at Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson, IL. There will be no visitation. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Memorials may be made in memory of Kathryn to the donor’s choice.

Kathryn was born on October 20, 1939, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of John and Ethel Gynell (Walker) Hampton. In her younger years, Kathryn focused on her family and raising her six children. She then went back to school receiving her degree in nursing. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, Kathryn worked at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham. She was a dedicated Christian and ministered and touched many people’s lives. She was an avid reader and loved studying the Bible. She also loved her family and especially enjoyed crocheting.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Tammy (Dr. Charles) Lagoski of Peoria, Robert Pendergast of Effingham, Joseph Pendergast of Granite City, Tina M. Finney of Effingham, Patrick Pendergast of Charleston, and Kathryn (Gabe) Harris of Watson; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy (Darwin) Storm of Stewardson; and 2 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Maurice Charles Pendergast; and niece, Gina Storm.
