Paul A. Goldstein, 88, of Effingham, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 29, 2016 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham, with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. 4th Street in Effingham. Memorials may be made in memory of Paul to the donor’s choice or Sacred Heart Church for Masses.

Paul was born on February 27, 1927, in Effingham, IL, the son of Clem and Clara (Fuesting) Goldstein. He married Shirley Mae Donaldson on August 4, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Effingham. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2015. Paul was a WW II veteran of the United States Navy. He attended Bradley University. Paul was manager of Effingham Equity for approximately 22 years. He then set-up his own Agriculture Business “Paul’s Farm Center” for approximately 11 years and after that he retired. Over the years Paul enjoyed flying, golfing, traveling, and Teutopolis Girls Basketball. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Effingham Country Club.

Paul is survived by his six children, Paul Michael (Janie) Goldstein of Effingham, Pamela Rose (Archie Lee) Harmon of Springfield, Steven Joseph Goldstein of Effingham, Vicki (Gerard) Beckman of Teutopolis, Paula (Gregory) Keeven of Wentzville, MO, and William (Nay)Goldof Mission Viejo, CA; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Ann) Goldstein of Effingham; and sisters, Mildred Braun and Kathleen (Pat) Green, both of Effingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Mae; daughter, Kathy Goldstein; brother, Louis (Florence) Goldstein; sister, Marie (Harold) Dasenbrock; and brother-in-law, Bud Braun.
