Betty Dale (Griffith) Klein, 73, of Homosassa, Fl formerly of Effingham, IL passed from this life in her sleep in the early morning of January 24, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with COPD and emphysema.
As per Betty’s wishes her body was cremated. A visitation and memorial service for family and friends in Florida to celebrate her life will be held on February 22, 2016 at Wilder Funeral Home, 4890 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa, FL 34446. Online condolences may be left by clicking here. There will be a memorial service for family and friends in Effingham, IL at a later date. Memorials may be made in Betty’s memory to a local Hospice or St. Jude’s Hospital, as these were two organizations she held close to her heart.
Betty was born on November 9, 1942, in Evansville, IN, the daughter of Glen Dale and Mary Lorene (Hardin) Griffith. She married Leonard “Bud” E. Klein on August 26, 1967, in Jasper County, IL, and he survives. Through the years she had worked at Guffey’s Cleaners and Fedders in Effingham before moving to Florida in 1995. She was a most loving, thoughtful and unselfish person you could ever meet and seemed to always put everyone else’s needs before her own. Betty will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her husband, Leonard “Bud” E. Klein of Homosassa, FL; daughter, Dalene R. (Al Steve) Klein-Johnson of Brooksville, FL; step-son, Michael E. (Lora) Klein of Greencastle, IN; step-daughter, Julie D. Klein, Flora, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas A. Steffen of Effingham, IL; Breanne R. Steffen of Brooksville, FL; step- grandchildren, David (Kim) Klein, Tracy (Rob) Anderson all of Greencastle, IN; Jamie Hemrich, Olney, IL; Melanie Klein, Brownsburg, IN; Eric (Amy) Klein, Fairview Heights, IL; and Madeline Johnson, Brooksville, FL; Eight step-great-grandchildren; brother, Burl (Audrey) Griffith of Dieterich, IL; sister, Marsha (Hallie) Beals of Stilesville, IN; brothers-in-law, Clifford (Mary) Klein, James (Carol) Klein, Charles Klein and Tom (Brenda) Klein all of Effingham, IL; sisters-in-law, Pauline (Richard) Winterrowd, Doris Jones, Margaret (Leon) Fulk all of Effingham, IL; Patricia (Leon) Wohltman of Houston, TX; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Mary Lorene Griffith; mother-in-law, Laura Berniece Klein; nephew, Trent Griffith; sisters-in-law, Sandy Klein, Rita Short and Sheila Klein; brothers-in-law, Herbert Jones and Ron Short; and her four legged baby “Bear”.
