William "Bill" Stuckemeyer, 92, of Altamont, died Sunday, January 24, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 27, at 11:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont with Rev. Bernard M. Ross III officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Tuesday at Kull Funeral Chapel in Altamont and from 10-11am Wednesday at the church. Burial in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Bill was born one of nine siblings into the Christian family of Henry and Dorothea Lenz-Stuckemeyer. He began his long life on November 30, 1924 at the family farm in Moccasin Township, Effingham County, Illinois. He was baptized, attended the Lutheran school and confirmed his faith at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where he maintained his life membership. He married Eva Koss in the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Altamont on February 14, 1954 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2003. Besides raising a family of five children with his late wife and working on the family farm together they also were employed as custodians at the Altamont Lutheran Interparish School for over 25 years. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army proudly receiving 2-Bronze Battle Stars and a Purple Heart for his battle action in Germany. He is survived by his: Sons: Robert Alan (wife, Barbara) Stuckemeyer of Dawson, Nebraska, Dale William (wife, Eileen) Stuckemeyer of Altamont, Illinois, James Edward (wife, Rhonda) Stuckemeyer of Altamont, Illinois; 2-Daughters: Barbara Jean (husband, Jim) Miller of Willow Hill, Illinois and Janet Kay (husband, Russell) Ramsey of Altamont, Illinois; Brother: Lester Stuckemeyer of Winterville, Ohio; and Sister-in-law: Peg Stuckemeyer of Leander, Texas.
He was preceded in death by His: Parents; Wife: Eva Koss-Stuckemeyer; Infant Granddaughter: Rachel Marie Stuckemeyer; Infant Great Grandson: Rush Howard Leftwich; 4-Brothers: Donald R. and wife Dorothy Stuckemeyer, Melvin A. Stuckemeyer, Glenn W. Stuckemeyer and Gilbert “Gib” Stuckemeyer; and 3-Sisters: Viola B. Stuckemeyer, Verna and husband Chester Chappel and Dorothy M. Marlow.
