Dorothy Lydia (Stuemke) Burrow, 91, of Altamont, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 18, 2016 at 9:20 PM at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont where she made her residence for the past eight years.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday morning January 22 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont with the Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, and again for one hour prior to the funeral services Friday at the church. Burial Rites will be at the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Care Center, Lutheran Hour Ministries or the donor's choice.

Dorothy was born into the Christian family one of six siblings to Carl “Charlie” and Louise Will-Stuemke. She began her long life on July 21, 1924 at the family farm West Township-Zion Community near Altamont. She was baptized, attended the Lutheran school and confirmed her faith at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. There she also married Norman E. Burrow on April 21, 1946 and then transferred her membership to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy was an active member of the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the Braille Workers and other activities of the Church. Dorothy was most active in raising a family with her late husband and working on the family dairy farm. She was also a member of the Effingham County Farm Bureau and the Home Extension for a number of years.
She is survived by her: 2-Sons: Daniel Carl (wife, Marilyn) Burrow of Altamont, and their children: John (wife, Dawn) Burrow and daughter Lilly, Bethany (husband, Sean) Ealy and children Luke and Lydia, Gretchen (husband, Brad) Buhrke and son Marshall, Kent Harold Burrow: and his son Jackson of Indianapolis, Indiana; 2-Daughters: Alta Louise (husband, Maurice) Lowry of Mason, Illinois and their children: Sarah Hillhouse and her children Hayden and Sophia, Andrew (wife, Amiee) Lowry and their children Blaise, Oliver and Opeliah, David Lowry, Elaine Ann (husband, Doug) Kopplin of Altamont, Illinois and their children: Austin, Amelia, Arianna and A. J. Kopplin; Brother: Norman (wife, Dorothy) Stuemke of Austin, Texas; Brother-in-law: Leroy Vandre of Kokomo, Indiana; and Many Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by Her: Parents; Husband; Son: Gaylert Norman Burrow; Grandson: Aaron Christian Kopplin; 2-Brothers: Delbert and his wife Mildred Stuemke and Harold and his wife Laverne Stuemke-Trost; Brother-n-law: Carl Trost; and 2-Sisters: Adeline and her husband Erhart Siebert and Evelyn Vandre.
