Joseph H. Buscher, 84 of Teutopolis, passed away Sunday morning, January 17, 2016 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church with a Knights of Columbus rosary to follow. Memorials may be made to A.R.C. Community Support Systems or to the Donor’s Choice. Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joe was born May 5, 1931 in Lillyville, the son of Joseph P. and Elizabeth (Kollmeyer) Buscher. He married Elizabeth A. “Betty” Kremer on February 4, 1961 and she survives. Joe was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874 and the Teutopolis Fire Department. He was a carpenter for 44 years and retired from A.R.C. as a maintenance worker and driver, whom the kids loved. Joe’s love for Cubs baseball and reading the “Vine Line” to prepare for spring training occupied his later retirement years, as well as following his grandchildren’s sporting events. In his earlier years, he played softball and was an avid golfer and bowler.

Joe is survived by his wife, Betty of Teutopolis; three sons, Joseph (Linda) of Effingham, Timothy of Effingham and Steven of Teutopolis; three daughters, Deborah of Effingham, Patricia (Bryan) Gorman of Godfrey and Kimberly (Jerod) Fleener of Lousiville; sister, Celeste Pruemer and sister-in-law, Luella Buscher; grandchildren, Stephanie, Amelia and Madison Buscher, Bryan Jr., Matthew and Claire Gorman, Coy and Ellie Fleener; great-grandson, Cooper McKinley.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis Buscher; sisters, Florence (Bernard) Westendorf, Lucille (Henry) Pruemer and Martha (William) Pruemer.
