Charles E. Voelker, 75, of Altamont, died at 11:06 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont with Rev. James F. Wright and Rev. Bernard M. Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont and for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the The Whoo Hoo Sisterhood, 4-H Foundation, Immanuel Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Charlie was born on Thursday, March 7, 1940 in the Bethlehem Community in rural Mason, IL to Reinhardt P. and Caroline (Alwardt) Voelker. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Judy Hankins on Sunday, June 21, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shumway. He was a farmer, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion Post #512, Altamont. He was an Effingham County 4-H Leader for over 54 years, served on the Effingham County Board for 12 years and was a member of the Effingham County Soil & Water Conservation District.

Surviving are his wife of over 45 years, Judy of Altamont; sons, Todd Voelker and his wife Denise of Shumway, Troy Voelker and his wife Lisa of St. Elmo, and Trevor Voelker and his wife Tiffany of St. Elmo; daughter, Timmerle Scholes and her husband Kyle of St. Elmo; brother, Frank Voelker and his wife Carolyn of Maryville, IL; sisters, Elvera Franzen and her husband Wayne of Altamont and Elnor Burton and her husband Ron of Canton, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, Myah, Alex, Claire, Hayden, Calvin, Levi, Adrie, Elaine, Wade, Cody, Cole and Aubrey; 3 great grandchildren, Lathyn, Kendyll and Layne.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
