Allen Dale Rankin, 92, of Strasburg, IL, died at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Hawthorne Inn, Shelbyville, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL, with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, IL with military rites by Strasburg American Legion Post #289. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL or Saving Orphaned Animals, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.

Allen was born on September 27, 1923 in Strasburg, IL, the son of Royal Edward and Frances Dot Bland Rankin. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II. Allen was a self-employed brick and block layer, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL and Strasburg American Legion Post #289. Allen was an avid fisherman and hunter. He married Juanita Reel on May 29, 1948 in Strasburg, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; sister, Imogene Rentfro of Stewardson, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Rankin; and sister, Isabel Howard.
