Virginia I. Craig, 91, of Salem, Illinois died at 4:35 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2012 at Doctors Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6 at 2 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kinmundy. Memorials may be made to Kinmundy-Alma EMT's or Kinmundy Food Pantry. Online condolences may be left at www.jwnealfuneralhome.net.
Virginia was born August 17, 1921, in Marion County, the daughter of James Frederick and Zetta Ellen (Lampkin) Burkett. She married Richard L. Craig December 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death February 6, 1985. She was a homemaker, a member of Alma Christian Church, Farina American Legion Auxiliary and was an avid donor to the American Red Cross.
Survivors include sons, Marvin "Butch" Barbee of Kinmundy, Charles "Bud" (wife Brenda) Craig of Alma, Richard "Barney" (wife Pamela) Craig of Glen Carbon, Jerry "Bones" (wife Angela) Craig of Kinmundy; daughter, Patricia Chasteen of Effingham; sister, Ula Krutsinger of Mahomet; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Janice Schwabe; son-in-law, Lester Chasteen and sister, Delores Fogerson.
