The Effingham County Museum is happy to announce that on Monday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. in the first-floor meeting room at the historic courthouse, Ken Vogt of West and Company and Joedy Hightower of the Southeastern Illinois Foundation will present a “Charitable Giving Seminar.”  Those who attend this free event will learn how to be tax smart with charitable giving regarding topics such asqualified Charitable Distributions from IRA accounts, Charitable gifts of appreciated property, Charitable gifts of Life Insurance policies, “Bunching” itemized deductions vs. standard deduction, Get a receipt for your charitable gift, qualified gifts and charities, Federal and taxable estates (Deduction for charitable bequest), Charitable bequest in a will or trust, Transfers on death directives, Best types of assets to leave to charities (retirement accounts, taxable annuities, insurance policies, etc.), and the role of Foundations in charitable giving.
