Altamont Man Given Prison Time for Sex Offense

An Altamont man has been sentenced to prison after a guilty plea to a sex offense.

25-year-old Christopher Gordon has pleaded guilty in Fayette County Circuit Court to a Class X felony count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.  Gordon was sentenced to nine years in prison.

One other count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault were dismissed as part of the negotiated plea.

Gordon was arrested in February of 2012, but the case has awaited a conclusion while he underwent treatment to assure his fitness to assist in his defense at trial.  Gordon was judged fit for trial at the hearing Tuesday where he entered the guilty plea.

Gordon admitted to sexual acts against a victim younger than nine years old.
