One person was injured in a crash in the Farina area early Tuesday morning.
State police report a semi driven by 75-year-old Hassan Madani of Crestwood disobeyed a stop sign at an intersection along Illinois Route 37 in Fayette County at 2:25am. The rig proceeded through the intersection at what police termed a high rate of speed and off the roadway. The vehicle crossed a ditch, through tall brush and then crossed over the railroad tracks, coming to a stop on the other side of the tracks in a cornfield.
Madani was injured in the crash and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Madani was cited for disobeying a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
