The mother of a deceased infant has been arrested and charged in Fayette County with endangering the life or health of the child.
24-year-old Heaven Davis of St. Elmo was arrested Friday on the charge, which is a Class 3 felony, meaning possible prison time if she's found guilty.
The information accompanying the charge alleges that Davis allowed her child to be placed in circumstances that led to her death. It's alleged that Davis left her one-year-old daughter, Addison Scott of St. Elmo, unattended with a person under age 14 and out of her sight, which authorities allege was the proximate cause of Addison's death.
Bond for Davis has been set at $100,000. She's due in court for her first appearance with her attorney today. Davis is being held in Fayette County Jail in Vandalia.
