The Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs (IAAF) has elected Ron Meyer of Manteno as its next president. Meyer was chosen this weekend during the association's 104th annual convention at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Springfield.

“My vision for the future of IAAF is to continue to strengthen county fairs in order to showplace agriculture," Meyer said.  "We are excited to partner with University of Illinois Extension in an Economic Impact study.”

Meyer has served on the Will County Fair Board for 37 years, including six years as president and 16 years as treasurer and dairy superintendent.  In addition, he has been director for the Northern Zone of the IAAF for four years.

He and his wife, Lois, have two children and five grandchildren.  They farm and show Holstein dairy and beef cattle.

William Redshaw of Rushville was elected Vice-President. George Fewkes of Albion will serve the next two years in the past president position.

Directors elected from the Northern Zone were David Engelbrecht of Leaf River and Ken Tyrrell of Sheridan.  In the Central Zone, Sandy Hoke of Tuscola and Jill Hardesty of Fischer were elected.  In the Southern Zone, James Walsh of Carmi and Russell Vandeveer of Salem were elected.

The IAAF Directors-at-large elected were:  Marvin Perzee of Ashkum, representing the Northern Zone, Tom Moore of Jerseyville, representing the Central Zone, and Bill Jennings of Olney, representing the Southern Zone.

The board re-appointed William H. Fugate of Fairbury as Secretary/Treasurer and Marla Behrends of Forrest as Publicity Chairman.
