Cumberland school board members have named high school principal Todd Butler assistant superintendent until June 30.
Butler was tapped as the next superintendent when Russell Ragon announced his departure last year. He needed to complete his certification, though, so retired educator John Hasten is serving as interim superintendent for this school year. Naming Butler assistant superintendent will ease the upcoming transition.
The Cumberland board accepted the resignation of Dorothy Huddlestun as cook as of January 31; accepted the resignation of Deb Schaljo as cheerleading sponsor; and approved Lacey Hornbeck as volunteer middle school volleyball coach.
Butler reported on the recent cheerleading trip to the Capital One Bowl, presented information on Rising Star, and thanked the custodians, bus drivers and maintenance crews for their work after the winter storm.
Junior High Principal Todd Hall reported that Stacy Keyser as been asked to present an Eastern Illinois Area Special Education conference on music education for early childhood students.
