Community Forum On Heroin Issue Tonight

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan M. Kibler announced a community forum on the heroin issue will be held tonight at 6 at the Effingham City Council Chambers, 201 E. Jefferson Avenue in Effingham.

"The purpose of this forum is to raise awareness about the issues surrounding increased heroin and prescription opiod painkiller abuse throughout our region of the state," said Kibler.

The event is open to the publc. Scheduled speakers will include Kibler, who will make introductory remarks' Sgt. Brandon Grzechowiak of Illinois State Police District 12 and Investigator Tony Stephens of the Effingham Police Department, who will narrate an informative PowerPoint presentation; Dr. Douglas J. Kabbes, M.D., Director of Emergency Services at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital; Hon. Duane Guffey, Effingham County Coroner; and Hon. Merv Gillenwater, Mayor of Effingham.
