Despite not being able to secure $30 million worth of incentives, ADM is set to move its headquarters to Chicago, from their current home in Decatur. ADM had sought the incentives from the state after laying out the economic consequences to lawmakers if the agriculture giant were to depart from the state.
Reports say ADM will shift 60-75 executives to Chicago, down from the 100 it had proposed when asking the state for payroll and other incentives that would have amounted to nearly $30 million over 20 years.
A home for the proposed ADM technology center has yet to be announced. It was originally in the same proposal as the company's headquarters, but has since been broken out of the deal.
ADM cited the need for a better talent pool to draw from and transportation infrastructure improvements as a deciding factor in the move.
