A Friday incident illustrated why IDOT encourages us to give snow plows a wide berth.

A semi came upon an IDOT dump truck along I-70 eastbound, four miles west of Montrose and could not avoid a collision.  The driver of the rig, 45-year-old Tom Wise of Dayton, Ohio tried to swerve but still struck the dump truck driven by 37-year-old Brian Habing of Teutopolis.  The semi ended up laid over on the passenger side.

Wise was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
