Mattoon police and the East Central Illinois Drug Task Force arrested two Mattoon residents after a call to a disturbance ended up being the result of a meth lab explosion inside an apartment.
Authorities were called to South 17th Place Apartments at 5am Saturday. 24-year-old Derek R. Miller and 21-year-old Elani D. Orsborn, both of Mattoon were arrested.
Miller was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of materials to manufacture meth, and allowing the usage of a property to manufacture meth. The charges allege that Miller had meth-making equipment, that he manufactured meth, and that he allowed the usage of a residence to produce meth.
Orsborn was charged with delivery of methamphetamine precursors and protection of meth manufacturing. The charges allege that she supplied ingredients and a location to produce meth.
