All four candidates for the Republican nomination for Effingham County Sheriff were on hand when the filing period for the 2014 primary election began Monday morning.
The four...Darren Feldkamp, John Gardner, Dave Mahon and Mike Schutzbach...were all present at the Effingham County Clerk's Office when filing began at 8am. That means all four will participate in a lottery to determine who gets the top spot on the ballot in March. Incumbent John Monnet is not seeking re-election.
Others who were on hand when the filing period began: Democrat Incumbent County Treasurer Steve Dasenbrock...Democrat Incumbent Karen Luchtefeld from County Board District C...and Democrat Incumbent Doug McCain from County Board District G, as was Republican Ed Hoopingarner from County Board District G.
The filing period runs through next Monday, December 2 at 5pm.
Those running for a multi-county office will file with the State Board of Elections in Springfield.
