The Effingham City Plan Commission Tuesday approved one item on its agenda, and denied the other.

Commission members approved a site plan for a natural gas fueling station.  The station is to serve semi trucks and is to be located at 1507B West Fayette in the area west of Hardee's.

The Commission recommended the City Council deny a rezoning request from Brian and Amanda Bannister, who requested a property at 500 Cleveland Street be rezoned from single-family residential to multiple-dwelling district.

City Building Official Bruce Devall said the project didn't involve a duplex in the classic sense, but rather a walkout apartment, so that's why the multi-family dwelling zone was sought, and the Commission ruled the project did not conform with the City's Comprehensive Plan in denying the proposal.
