In an effort to afford interested citizens the opportunity to explore joining a trained volunteer ernergency dervices organization; a Volunteer Reeruitment Fair and Volunteer Searcher Orientation Program has been organized for Saturday, November 9 at the Effingham County Emergency Operations Center, 311 Miravle Avenue, Effingham,
With the recent outpouring of local support in the Willow Long search, ths event will give many people the opportunity to browse the many possibilities of volunteer emergency services in Efflngham County.
1) The Volunteer Searcher Orientation Prograin will be condücted from 9:00 a.m to Noon for those wishing to be listed as oriented "Searchers" for possible future use in missing persons operations.
2) For citizens interested in becoming a member of a Vo.unteer Fire Department, Dive Rescue Team, K-9 Search Team, Equine Team, Emergency Management (EMA) or Medical Reserve Corp, they should attend the Volunteer Revruitment Fair from noon, to 3 p.m. to bröwse the booths of various organizations that may fit their interest.
Fire Departments, the Dive Resvue Team, K-9 SAR Team, EMA Cert Team, Equine Team, Effingharn CountyHealth Department MRC, and others will display their equipment and provide applications and information on becoming a member of their particular volunteer emergency service.
Each service has its own requirements. The amount of time and dedication needed will vary depending upon the incumbent duties of each department. Placing yourself in "harm's way" for your fellow man is one of the highest calliings. Explore your calling and find your place in one of these special organizations.
Local Girl Scouts will be selling refreshments at the event.
