Authorities have confirmed the death of a woman whose body was found in Clark County was a homicide.
An Illinois Department of Transportation worker doing mowing along the roadside found the body about mid-afternoon Friday. The body was found off the north side of the on-ramp to westbound I-70 at Casey.
Clark County Coroner Jeff Pearce said it didn't appear whoever dumped the body intended to conceal it, but it was located in tall grass. Pearce said they haven't identified the woman and declined to release the cause of death, but said it was a homicide. He also declined to release what they think was the approximate age of the woman.
The Clark County Coroner's Office is working with Illinois State Police, the Clark County Sheriff's Department and Casey Police on the investigation.
