Effingham Trucker Injured in Cumberland County Crash

An Effingham man was injured Sunday afternoon in a crash in Cumberland County.

State police say 62-year-old Vernon Detmer reached down for an item in the cab of his semi and the rig ran off the roadway to the right.  The semi struck a ditch and overturned.

Detmer was taken for treatment to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Detmer was cited for improper lane usage, and possession of an alcoholic beverage in the cab of his vehicle.

The crash occurred just before 5pm Sunday on Illinois Route 130, about two miles north of Greenup.
