State Representative David Reis (R-Ste. Marie) and John Cavaletto (R-Salem) are hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday, October 10th at the Effingham County Sportsman's Club to discuss the new concealed carry law.  The event is open to the public.

“We are hosting a concealed carry town hall meeting as a way of getting the information out on the concealed carry process and how the bill was drafted,” Reis said.  “We’ll offer an informational PowerPoint to overview the new law, instructor requirements, the training process and future rule making.  Afterwards, we will open the forum up for questions and answers.

“One of the concerns that people have called into our office is that the Illinois State Police are not moving quickly enough, so hopefully we’ll have a lot more answers that night as well.  My office will be hosting a couple more of these events in Olney and Albion later in the fall so we can bring people up to speed.”

The forum will discuss qualifications to obtain a concealed carry license, where concealed carry is prohibited, training requirements and the implementation timeline.

The event will begin at 6:30pm.  For more information, phone Reis' office at 618-392-0108 or Cavaletto's office at 618-548-9080.  To download a concealed carry brochure or a flyer for the upcoming Town Hall event, visit www.davidreis.org or www.johncavaletto.org.
