Crash at Fayette and Maple Thursday

Details are now available on a crash at Fayette and Maple in Effingham that occurred just before 1pm Thursday.

Effingham City Police say a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Calina Harris of Effingham turned into the path of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Walter Smith, Jr. of Teutopolis.

Smith was injured and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  A passenger in Smith's vehicle, 65-year-old Sharon Smith of Teutopolis, was injured but refused treatment.

Harris was cited for failure to yield.
