Work continues by members of the Effingham Noon and Sunrise Rotary clubs to secure funding for a new pavilion at Community Park.

The September 25 Noon Rotary Club meeting was the scene of a check presentation by the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation for $1,000 toward the project cost.

Foundation board member Claude Hudson, a member of Noon Rotary, made the presentation to Noon Rotary member Rosie Gibbons who wrote the grant application.

The goal is to replace an aging pavilion on the east side of Community Park with a pavilion to be built in the same area of the park but farther south to better serve a larger area.
