A weekend crash in Effingham injured two people.

The crash happened shortly after 10am Saturday east of the intersection of Illinois 33 and Pembroke Street on the southeast side of town.  City police say a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Kendra Hardiek of Dieterich rear-ended a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Roberta Hemann of Hillsboro.

Two passengers in Hemann's vehicle, 42-year-old Raymond Smith and 21-year-old Ariel Meade, both of Effingham, were injured in the collision and were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Police cited Hardiek for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
