Altamont Teachers Authorize a Strike

After no agreement was reached in a bargaining meeting Wednesday night between the Altamont Education Association and the Altamont Board of Education, AEA members met Thursday and voted unanimously to authorize the bargaining team to call a strike.

AEA President Mike Delaney said, "A settlement that is fair and equitable for all of our members, the students and the community has always been our goal.  We remain optimistic that an agreement can be reached."

No strike date has been set.  "Depending on the outcome of another meeting scheduled for Monday, the bargaining team will have some tough decisions to make regarding a strike date," Delaney said.
