Helen Matthes Library board members heard this week that the fund drive to help pay for renovation of the next library home continues to secure contributions.

Library Director Amanda McKay said pledges and gifts total $344,295 or 18% of the fundraising goal.  However, McKay said that 19 pending gifts would generate another $500,000, which would push the fund drive to 44% of goal.

The 18-month campaign began in May.

Library board members also approved receipt of a gift of stock to the building fund.  When sold, the stock is expected to generate around $5,000.

The Board reviewed a draft fiscal year levy that uses a projected equalized assessed valuation of $241 million, which is about 1.5% higher than last year; reviewed plans for the book sale on Friday and Saturday; and heard about plans for this year's Family Read Night on November 21.
