Altamont Teachers, School Board Meet; Will Talk Again Monday

Bargainers for the Altamont Education Association and the Altamont Board of Education held a three-hour session with a federal mediator Wednesday night.  The parties are hoping to reach agreement on a new contract.

Altamont Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch said late Wednesday night that the parties met so that's positive.  Fritchtnitch said they plan to meet again, so that's also positive.

Another meeting between negotiators for both sides has been scheduled for Monday at 5:30pm.

Altamont teachers have filed an intent to strike notice, earlier suggesting that if things don't change, a work stoppage may be the only option.
