Firefighters from four departments were called out to a house on fire Saturday morning on the south side of Lake Sara.
The call came about 8 a.m. to a residence on the west side of Romany Lane. Shumway Fire Chief Joe Kemme said the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen and then spread to a bedroom in the single-story home. The man who lived in the home was seated on the front porch when a sheriff's deputy arrived on scene. The man appeared disoriented so officials were not immediately certain of his name, but he was not injured.
Shumway firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Watson, Tri-County and Effingham on scene and Altamont and Sigel firefighters staffed the Shumway stations while their firefighters were on scene.
No one was injured. Firefighters began clearing the scene before 9:30 a.m.
