Shumway Firefighters Out Wednesday Afternoon

Shumway firefighters were called to a report of a furnace on fire Wednesday afternoon.

The call came at 2:45pm to 10218 Heritage Drive, a home owned by Ron White and being rented by Jennifer Senff. 

Firefighters detected a light haze of smoke in the building on arrival and learned Senff had turned off the power in the home prior to their reaching the scene.  Senff had spotted fire in the furnace so shut off the power, which stopped a fan blower for the air conditioner in the unit.

Firefighters cleared the smoke and then cleared the scene about 3:30pm.

Shumway firefighters remind that it's a good time to check to make your smoke detector is operating properly.
