A Paris man has been identified as the person killed in the crash of an airplane near Edgar County Airport earlier this week.

Edgar County Coroner Peter Templeton said 33-year-old Rusty Bogue was the pilot killed in the crash shortly after 11am Tuesday.

Edgar County Airport Manager Jimmy Wells said the plane took off but never reached full altitude before crashing in a wooded area near the airport, which is north of Paris along Illinois Route 1.

The twin-engine Cessna was owned by a Terre Haute company.  The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
