Bicycle Collides With Car in Effingham

An Effingham man was injured when his bicycle struck the side of a vehicle Friday afternoon.

City police say the incident occurred at 3:15pm on the sidewalk along Ford Avenue near Walmart.  Police said a car driven by 25-year-old Kimberly Niemerg of Wheeler pulled out across the sidewalk and was struck by a bicycle ridden by 51-year-old John Dale Jenkins of Effingham.

Jenkins was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  Niemerg was cited for failure to yield.
