The Windsor couple suspected in the shooting of a man in southern Illinois late last year are now slated to go on trial in November.
41-year-old John Cunningham and 44-year-old Janet Cunningham are charged in an incident in the Lake of Egypt area of Johnson County December 3, 2012. Police say the Cunninghams stole a vehicle near the shooting scene and fled the area. They were later spotted near their home area in Coles County, where they are suspected of taking another vehicle. The two were tracked to Indiana and then to Kentucky. They were found sleeping in a vehicle near Madisonville, Kentucky the afternoon of December 5 and taken into custody without incident.
John Cunningham faces charges including attempted murder, armed violence, and aggravated vehicular hijacking. Janet Cunningham is charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery and felony possession or use of a firearm.
The shooting victim was treated at a Lake of Egypt area hospital and then released.
The Cunninghams are due to go on trial November 18. A final pre-trial hearing is set for October 16.
