A Decatur man was injured in a crash near Dieterich early Thursday morning.

The crash happened at 4:34am on Illinois 33, a half-mile east of Dieterich.  State police say a semi driven by 50-year-old Larry Thompson of Decatur ran off the right side of the highway, traveled 400 feet in a ditch and ended up overturned on the passenger side of the rig.

Thompson was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  The rig partially blocked the highway for a time after the crash.

Thompson was cited for improper lane usage, driving while ill or fatigued, and operating a commercial vehicle with any amount of alcohol in his system.
